How to Write a Lesbian Dating Profile
A good profile does one job: it helps the right person start a conversation with you. It does not need to be clever or long. It needs to sound like you, say what you are looking for, and give someone an easy way to say hello. Here is how to build one, from the photos to the first line, whether you are new to dating women or have done it for many years.
What a good profile does
It tells a stranger three things quickly: who you are, what you enjoy and what you want. Everything else is detail. Read yours aloud and ask whether someone could picture a first conversation with you.
Five parts
What to put in
Short and honest beats long and polished.
-
Photos
Use clear, recent pictures where your face is visible. Add one that shows something you enjoy, such as a walk, a pet or a favorite spot.
-
A first line
Open with something specific. A detail about your week or a thing you love is easier to reply to than a list of adjectives.
-
About you
Say a little about your work, your weekends and what makes you laugh. Two or three sentences is plenty.
-
What you want
Be clear about whether you are looking for a relationship, dates or friendship. People respect honesty, and it saves time.
-
A conversation starter
End with a question or a topic, such as your best place to eat or the show you cannot stop watching.
Mistakes that are easy to avoid
Group photos where nobody can tell which one is you, long lists of things you do not want, and a profile that says only that you are easy-going all make it harder for someone to write to you. Keep it positive and specific.
Keep some things private
Leave your home address, workplace details and other sensitive information out of your profile. On Sapphic Match your real name and email are not shown publicly, and you choose what to share and when. Read more about how we help you stay safe.
